TAKING COMPLEX CONCEPTS TO SIMPLE PRINCIPLES

“We need to place a stake in the ground about who we are, where we will go and what it looks like.”

JON YEO

“Globally and locally I think there is a distinct lack of leadership. Partly because of the short-term, reactive thinking, partly because I feel Australia in general is lacking a clear identity and vision. An ambitious Australia needs a bold, declarative position that directs and inspires the nation to move forward. We need to place a stake in the ground about who we are, where we will go and what it looks like. This could be a serious commitment to the environment, a radical rethink of taxation and economic stimulation, and embracing the change STEM industries will bring. We could easily lead in all 3.

After 10 years, running TEDxMelbourne continues to challenge that complacency and approach the world with an open mind, enthusiasm and a positive mindset. I’m expanding projects around women, diversity, youth, and youth at risk, where there is a significant upside if managed well.”
