“The ambitious Australia is not a defined location that we reach, but an ever-evolving narrative of discovery and journey, one we write together now.”

ANIKA MOLESWORTH

“An ambitious Australia is a place that not only endeavours to avert catastrophe and apply bandages when they do occur – but to reimagine our story as one we’d be proud to tell future generations. This story is one where we, the protagonists, face great challenges, and although at times it might seem all hope is lost, we band together using our wisdom, best-available science, and unwavering determination to find a better path. We navigate our way forward with respect and compassion towards people we meet who are unlike us, but similarly seek a more just and equitable home. We continually learn and adapt, celebrating our achievements and leaving no friend behind. The ambitious Australia is not a defined location that we reach, but an ever-evolving narrative of discovery and journey, one we write together now as we hold the pen in our hand.

An open and non-judgmental mind-frame is necessary to understand our inherent weaknesses and seek to do our best despite them. I am incredibly fortunate to live on my family’s remote farm in rural Australia, and this has instilled in me a deep sense of curiosity for our natural world, and how we humans interact with it. I observe the cycles of life and death, feel the pain of the land when it hurts, and rejoice when my community is thriving. I speak with honesty and vulnerability from the land on which I stand. My connection to my home goes deep, and if I can help illume my world to others, then perhaps they will feel the wonder and awe I do. Then together, we can reimagine our story for a more ambitious Australia.”
